Meet Joanna

Joanna Dendrolivanos is a classically trained vocalist, performer, and voice teacher with more than 25 years of teaching experience. She brings warmth, encouragement, and professional training into her studio, helping students of all ages build confidence, technique, and musical expression.

Musical Background & Experience

Joanna is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned a degree in Vocal Performance. Her performance background includes opera, musical theater, jazz, classical, pop, worship, and more.

She made her operatic debut as Mercedes in Carmen and has performed with Sarasota Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Portland Maine Opera, Opera AEGEAN in Greece, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Some of her favorite musical theater roles include Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and Bloody Mary in South Pacific. She currently performs shows at nursing homes throughout the Charlotte area.

Teaching Approach

Joanna’s lessons are personalized around each student’s voice, goals, and musical interests. She teaches all genres of music and especially enjoys musical theater, helping students strengthen both their vocal technique and their ability to communicate a song.

Lessons may include breathing technique, placement of sound, chest and head voice connection, song preparation, audition coaching, performance skills, acting, and music theory. Joanna’s goal is to help every student feel supported while growing into a stronger, more confident musician.
